About Us

Officially opening its doors in 1966, Centennial Theatre was built to commemorate the centennial celebrations of Canada. Since that time, Centennial Theatre has been home to many community and professional organizations including North Shore Light Opera, Uncle Randy Productions, Lions Gate Sinfonia, the Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival, the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, as well as many local schools, dance schools and cultural organizations.

Centennial Theatre is a 658 seat municipally managed theatre, owned by the City of North Vancouver, and operated by the North Vancouver Recreation & Culture Commission under a Joint Use By-Law with operating funds from both the City and the District of North Vancouver.

Centennial Theatre is continuing to expand its presenting season, as well as remaining a supportive rental venue for many touring productions and community organizations. We are visited by between 100,000 and 120,000 patrons and performers each year.

Generations of North Shore families have been performers and audience members at Centennial Theatre, and we look forward to generations more.
