City Atrium Gallery

In Perceptually Uniform, Mark has played with the concept that in our world, there is an underlying, over-reaching fabric that makes up everything that we interact with in our physical environment. “The fabric must be made of something deeper. It is this “something” that I have strived to capture within these works,” says Ollinger.

Mark Ollinger is a self-taught artist who grew up in Calgary, Alberta. He has called Vancouver his home for the past seven years. Mark has been working full-time as a professional artist since 2007 and is deeply influenced by the graffiti and street art cultures. He plays with optical illusions and draws from Vladimir Kush’s idea of metaphorical surrealism, which he translates into his sculpture, painting, and graffiti works.

Artist Talk: Tuesday, September 29, 12:15 – 12:45pm
