I have lived in our community for more than 17 years. I am quite passionate about our environment and also concerned about our community. We need strong representation, someone with advanced education and experience, and someone with undivided commitment to our community. Once I am in the council I will work hard to save the public money, lower taxes, provide affordable housing for seniors, to provide a better business climate for our local and international business.
I'm committed to listening to the voice of our community. As a businesswoman and entrepeneur, I recognize the importance of fiscal responsibility and accountablity. As a mother of three, I understand the importance of safety; in our homes, on our streets and in our schools. I am also keenly aware of the need for affordable housing for both young families and seniors. Let's work together for the future! Please come out and vote for me on November 19th. My name is Karen Klasen and I'm listening to YOU.
Together we can make a difference for students and our community. I believe strongly in the public's right to be heard; that the school board should provide an inclusive process for all parties including teachers, parents, employees, students and administration. By striving to provide a more inclusive and respectful process for all, I believe that we can balance the needs of fiscal responsibility, accountability and the needs of students and families. I believe my hard work, compassion and integrity will make a difference for students and families in the NVSD.
We need to build on what our community values; respect for community input, development in accordance with our Official Community Plan and open, accountable, fiscally responsible municipal government. We need a Mayor with a firm but caring hand; a Mayor with a sense of decency. I will be that Mayor.
I believe our Mayor should be a strong leader. A Mayor should protect and improve our community’s resources, bring people together, and run District Hall and its $120M budget effectively. I’m a chartered accountant and financial executive with experience in the private, non-profit, and public sectors. I’m also an arts fundraiser, hockey player, former teacher, father – and District Councillor. I value many perspectives, and see the value of bringing them together. As your Mayor, I look forward to working with you to build a strong and sustainable community we all can share.
Let’s Strengthen our Community Through Partnerships. I have decided to run for Mayor of the District of North Vancouver and I believe I have the financial leadership, team building, people skills and experience for this important position. I know and care about this community. My family and I have lived in the District for over 18 years and I am deeply committed to making this a better home for all us.
If one can judge the measure of a single person by the company that they keep, then it stands to reason that the measure of any great community can be judged by those men and women who continually inspire and challenge us to live life better. That I live in just such a community is a testament to the everyday efforts of so many community based volunteers who make our District the grandest place to live!
Mayor Barbara Sharp has been providing the decisive leadership that makes the City of North Vancouver work for all of its citizens since 1999. Under her leadership, North Van City has balanced fiscal responsibility with a commitment to providing strong public services and ensuring that development is sustainable and appropriate. She is well known for consulting the public, community groups, businesses and other governments to make North Vancouver City a better place to live. On November 19 vote for a Mayor who provides strong leadership and has a record of accomplishment.
Re-elect councillor Alan Nixon for North Vancouver District. An experienced professional and dedicated community member, Alan is proud to serve the people of his municipality.
Being elected to Council in 2002 has certainly been one of the highlights in Alan's life, so far! He has found it be the very best way to contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of the quality of life for his family and all those who call the District of North Vancouver home.
In the last three years the District has undergone fundamental changes in management at the elected and administrative level. These were both necessary and effective. I feel that with my experience as an professional engineer, coupled with my international work experiences, I will be able to strengthen the Districts administrative, capital and maintenance forces ability to deliver the necessary Districts’ services efficiently and in a cost effective manner.
Without doubt, we live in a beautiful, and for the most part, safe and prosperous community. But the pressure to grow has never been greater, and I believe we are facing some critical decisions. We must find ways to balance the bottom line with the needs of residents, present and future. We must ensure that economic and social development keeps pace with new construction. I believe when citizens are informed, engaged and committed and when Councillors are honest, open and accountable, the City thrives. Let my strong, independent voice speak for you. On November 19th, vote Pam Bookham for City Council.
Bob Fearnley has been a valuable part of the team at City Hall which brought much needed changes to our City and there is still work to be done. The redevelopment of Lower Lonsdale has to be completed, we need a new artificial turf field for our kids to play sports on, and Bob is committed to building a new City library.
Change is never easy but the policies championed by Bob Fearnley will help to get the public more involved in preparing our City for the future.
I’m running for Mayor because I believe that its time for a new era of positive leadership in our City – leadership that unites and strengthens our community rather than divides it.
It’s the kind of leadership I’ve always tried show in my twelve years as a Councillor.
People tell me they want a Mayor who can make tough decisions without dividing our community into winners and losers. People tell me they want a Mayor who will make our City and our City Hall open and welcoming places where everybody counts. And people tell me that they want a Mayor who will listen, look for consensus, and work hard to find “win-win” solutions for our community.
