Carmelo’s, nestled in the heart of Ambleside (5 minutes from the Lions Gate Bridge), has been a mainstay for North Shore diners for more than twenty years.
Owner Peter Oates leads the front of the house, ensuring everything is perfect, whilst Chef Adam Shaughnessy (former Executive Chef at Umberto’s) creates the finest, authentic Italian cuisine available.
The room is cozy and full of bustle. The tables are covered with white linen and original Renoirs (Alexander not Pierre Auguste) hang on the walls. Service is personal and professional; all servers have 10 years or more of experience in fine dining restaurants.
The menu is not “fussy”; following good Italian tradition the dishes are prepared using top quality, fresh ingredients. Along with the daily specials, mainstays such as milk fed veal scallopine, penne salsicca, fresh crisp salads and rustic pizzas baked in the wood fired oven make for a wonderful dining experience.
The wine selection at Carmelo’s continually boasts over 50 varieties from all corners of the world. We always have at least 15 varieties to select from by the glass or half litre. With our prices ranging from $25 per bottle to $80 we will enhance your dining experience.
