The Campfires
February 4-February 26, 2011
Opening Reception: Thursday, February 3, 7-9 pm
Artists:
Andrei Bus, Norman Coloma, Martin Krykorka, Marcus Jolly, Roland Meier and Joelle Sept
Six artists will explore the utility and magic of a campfire, recalling the narrative and re-imagining its contemporary brand while contending with a dialogue that mystifies rather than clarifies. The artists have created diverse works for this exhibition such as carvings, found objects, sculptures, video, photography, paintings and DIY art.
A Circle of Community
Artist Talk: Saturday, February 5, at CityScape 1-3pm
Campfire: Saturday, February 19, 6-9pm. We invite the community to be drawn by the warm glow of a campfire at Ship Builders Square to celebrate the spirit of camaraderie, singing, music, storytelling, food and fun. Performers will engage the audience in singing round the fire while storytellers share their tales and guests share in the warm glow of the fire.
Philosopher’s Cafe: 7pm Wednesday, February 16 at Lynn Valley Main Library in partnership with Simon Fraser University continuing studies. What is Community?

Centennial Theatre proudly presents our 2010/2011
Sensational Sundays Series
Featuring
Bobs and Lolo
Sunday, January 23rd at 2pm
Bobs & Lolo are fabulous children’s entertainers who create upbeat music for kids that adults happen to love. Nominated for a Juno Award for Best Children’s Album of 2010, they are also winners of the 2009 Parents’ Choice Gold Award.
Dedicated to connecting kids to the natural world with music, movement and make-believe, Bobs and Lolo share musical stories that engage, inspire and educate. They teach kids to care about themselves, their neighbours and the planet. With a background in teaching and linguistics, Robyn Hardy (Bobs) is an enthusiastic and caring individual with a passion for conservation education. On stage she loves to sing, dance, clap, snap and tap! As an environmental educator and kinesiology major, Lorraine Pond (Lolo) is an energetic performer with a flare for creating connections between young audiences and the natural world. On stage she loves to sing, dance, wiggle, slide and glide!
Growing up on Vancouver Island, Robyn and Lorraine have always shared a love of the natural world and a passion for working with children. Creating the dynamic duo Bobs & LoLo has allowed them to combine their diverse academic backgrounds with a mutual love of teaching and the creative arts. “The duo’s smooth harmonies and frolicsome approach impart refreshing life to original songs that encourage physical exercise and active play, good nutrition, reading, good manners, consideration of others, healthy friendships and making a difference in the world. Instead of sinking under their own worthy weight, these tuneful tracks float and shimmer like soap bubbles in the sun.”-Lynne Heffley, Parents’ Choice
“Ridiculously catchy hooks, memorable lyrics –a sense of fun and wild abandonment.”
-Vancouver Province
Single tickets for Bobs and Lolo are $18
